Q: Do you take regular exercise - and if so, what?

A: I'm working very hard at the moment with my new business, but I always find time to walk and cycle with my mum and dad along the Lagan towpath for pleasure. It ticks the exercise box, too, but this way we get to catch up as well.

Q: What's been the worst illness you have had?

A: I'm lucky to not have had any serious illnesses before. The most frustrating injury was when I was hiking with my cousin in Oman and a waxy needle from a bush got stuck in my leg and broke off; it was an inch and a half long and I had it in there for over three months. I had to have consultations at two different hospitals - and a plastic surgeon told me there was nothing there - everyone must have thought I was crazy. It moved about a bit every so often and was excruciatingly painful when it touched a nerve or my calf bone. I was away for a couple of months, but as soon as I got home to good old Belfast I got it taken out immediately at the City Hospital - they spotted it easily with a scanner usually used on pregnant women.

Q: How healthy is your diet?

A: I like a good hearty meal. I love making shepherd's pie for everyone, it's warm and cosy and the whole house smells nice.

We have our own apple trees at home that are laden with juicy, red, powdery apples and it's the perfect time of the year for them right now. I give bags of them to friends and neighbours otherwise they would all go to waste. They are organic and taste so good.

Q: Any bad habits?

A: I do eat a lot of sweet things. I pop into Co Couture every time I am in town for a hot chocolate, and that gets me buzzing the way a coffee might for others. It's very thick and rich with homemade marshmallows, but I know it's good quality ingredients, too, and that matters.

Q: Do you drink and/or smoke - and if so how much?

A: I don't drink very much alcohol. I sometimes make limoncello with my sister and bottle it as gifts; there's a lot of sugar in it, but you only have a small taste, so it's okay.

And, of course, I love a half pint of Guinness. Who doesn't? My favourite bit is the cream on top.

Although I don't smoke, my grandfather smoked a pipe and I quite like the smell of one if it passes me by - it brings back fond memories.

Q: Do you take any health supplements?

A: Cod liver oil and calcium; I always have.

Q: How do you take time out?

A: Running my own business, I am always working, so I don't have a particular daily routine. I prefer to work very late at night when it is quiet and I can escape my phone and other distractions - that way I can get a real chunk of work done. I travel an awful lot, so I see this as time out, although I am constantly on the look-out for inspiration and sourcing fabrics for my KL Design Ireland cushion range on any trips abroad, so I'm never relaxing as such, even when I'm on holiday. At the minute I am watching the Around the World in 80 Gardens boxset before I go to bed, but I watch it in such small snippets - I had it for five months before I got a chance to tune in.

Q: How well do you sleep?

A: When I fall asleep, I am well and truly out for the count.

Q: Do you worry about getting old?

A: It's not something I think about ... until now.

Q: What is your go-to product/habit that keeps you feeling healthy?

A: Jutox. I discovered this wonderful local juicing brand at Belfast Fashionweek; the drinks taste so zingy and fresh and they send them right to your door. Even if you aren't trying to lose weight, they are an excellent booster to your diet for vitamins and minerals.

I store them in the freezer to keep them at their best and then just take one out as and when I feel like one.
