Theatre: Shakespeare tragedy gets a comedic twist

That Scottish Play, Commedia of Errors Theatre Company, Lyric Theatre, Belfast - Tuesday to Friday, 8pm

By Grania McFadden

This is Macbeth unlike you've ever seen it before. It is full of energy, comedy and all the darkness and death that keeps audiences coming back to Shakespeare's classic.

Macbeth and the witches meet again, in thunder, lightning, but probably no rain (we've had plenty already). The hurly burly's all but done and now it's time to have some fun. Witchcraft? Yes. Murder? Yes. Tragedy? Not this time!

Blood Brothers

Grand Opera House

Tuesday until Feb 3, Tue-Sat 7.30pm, Thurs 2pm, Sat 2.30pm

Lyn Paul returns to the role of Mrs Johnstone that she played in the West End. Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi award-winning Blood Brothers. The story of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences, has proved a perennial hit with audiences. The score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and Tell Me It's Not True.
