Why local dancers will be stepping out in Red Square

By Eddie McIlwaine

Red Square is beckoning local dancers Jasmine Ng and Emma McCluskey (both 19) as they prepare to fly to Moscow to represent Northern Ireland at an international Highland dance tattoo.

The girls from the Bright Lights Dance Club, in Cregagh, were chosen for the marathon trip after an audition in Belfast.

Their dance teacher is Scot Elizabeth Gollan.

Jasmine, who comes from Antrim, and Emma, a Cregagh girl, will be an integral part of the 10th anniversary Spasskaya Tower event.

It is being performed in the famous square from Saturday August 26 until Sunday September 3.

Jasmine and Emma are the first dancers from the province to appear at the Red Square tattoo.
