Belfast restaurants retain Michelin Star status

Two Belfast restaurants have retained their Michelin Star status for 2019.

Deanes EIPIC in Howard Street and Ox in Oxford Street have both been named in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2019.

In addition, Clenaghans Restaurant, near Aghalee, joins the list of seven Michelin Bib Gourmand establishments in Northern Ireland.

Michelin Bib Gourmand awards recognise those establishments offering good food at affordable prices of £28 or less for a three-course meal.

Retaining their awards from last year are Fontana and Noble in Hollywood, Wine & Brine in Moira, Belfast’s Deanes at Queen’s, Bar+Grill at James’ Street South, and Home in Wellington Place.

This year’s Michelin Guide lists a total of 71 establishments in Northern Ireland.

Restaurateur Michael Deane said he was delighted that EIPIC had maintained its star for the fourth year in a row.

"It’s a true reflection of the dedication to high standards and the dogged hard work of the team at Deanes,” he said.

Mr Deane is now celebrating his eighteenth Michelin Star over twenty two years in four different venues

“I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Chef Alex Greene who’s been at the helm of EIPIC for just a year. He and his team have continued to consistently deliver the quality experience that our customers expect and appreciate," he said.

Mr Deane also paid tribute to Deanes Executive Chef Chris Fearon for the team’s repeated success at Deanes At Queens.
