Jamie Oliver to open restaurant in Ireland

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is seeking to open a new restaurant in Ireland, according to his Irish business associate, Gerard Fitzpatrick.

The Irish Times reports negotiations are “nearly there” ahead of launching a second Dublin restaurant within six months.

Mr Fitzpatrick  launched Jamie’s Italian in Dundrum in 2012.

He is confident a new restaurant will be achievable despite difficulties the chef is experiencing in his UK ventures.

It was announced earlier this month that 12 Jamie's Italian sites  would close up in the UK.

It is understood Mr Fitzpatrick is looking to open a 60-100 seat restaurant in Dublin  city centre and may be a replica of the Jamie’s Italian Dundrum outlet.

The menu offers "rustic Italian dishes".
