This summer, for one night only, renowned London based Ramekins & Wine are coming to Belfast for what promises to be a remarkable night of food and wine at The Merchant Hotel.

On Wednesday, August 14, they’ll be teaming up with Belfast’s most awarded wine merchant, James Nicholson Wine, to host a very special food and wine matching supper club.

Ramekins & Wine is the brainchild of Northern Ireland man Jamie Patterson and Thea Gardner, who started hosting their unique food and wine pairing dinners and pop-ups nearly three years ago.

A prolonged stint on MasterChef, endless five-star reviews and thousands of happy diners since, and now they’re finally coming on tour to Jamie’s home country.

"Supper club culture - that ethos of meeting new people, sharing experiences and excitement over new things was always something that really resonated with us - we loved it, and we still do - the creativity, innovation and sheer love of food that ‘Supper Clubbers’ have is totally infectious," Patterson explains.

"That's why we wanted to create our own, one where we can extol the virtues of not only drinking wine with food, but drinking the right wine with food and seeing how magical it can be."

The dinner itself will be a seven-course affair, designed to showcase the magic of a great food and wine match. All seven courses will be served in their eponymous ramekins and paired to one a JN Wine, chosen specifically for the way they go with the food.

While the Ramekins team don’t like to give too much prior information about the food, dishes like their ever-popular scallop and king prawn potted ravioli with caviar, and hot baked chocolate chip cookie with malted milk ice cream will be making an appearance.

The wines the hosts have chosen are, in Patterson’s words: "Staggering, revelatory and so characterful - one of the wines in particular has to go down as one of the prettiest, most charming and delicious I’ve come across in over a decade in the trade."

The evening will be hosted by Patterson alongside Northern Ireland’s wine expert extraordinaire, Jayne Boyce MW. As one of only 300 or so Master of Wines in the world, her insight, passion and knowledge will add to what promises to be a fascinating evening.

There are 80 tickets on general sale, or guests can purchase a table of eight, which comes with a free bottle of Champagne. Tickets cost £60pp and are available at
