Never mind Fifty Shades of Grey, females across Northern Ireland will be turning forty shades of green when they hear that one of our most eligible bachelors has been taken ‘off the shelf’.

At the start of the year, Mr Tayto, one of our best-loved, ‘home-grown’ heroes declared his intention to search for a companion to share his evenings at Tandragee Castle, once he has finished work for the day.

During his search for a special someone, Mr Tayto received numerous offers of love from ardent fans, some very tempting. However, he now realises that love was right under his nose all along.

For a number of years, Tayto has been supporting Marie Curie and has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the charity. Throughout this time, Mr Tayto has carried out various activities with their beautiful representative, Miss Daffy and now believes that she could be ‘the one’.

Mr Tayto’s good friend, Crispin, explains: “Mr Tayto has been overwhelmed by the interest people have taken in his quest to find love. Some of the suggestions for his perfect partner have been very ‘ap‘peel’ing’ however, love has finally ‘blossomed’.

“When Miss Daffy realised that he was searching for a special someone she got in touch to say that she had always felt that their friendship could ‘bloom’ into something more! We are just so pleased to all see #MrTaytoinlove. They pair are certainly Northern Ireland’s hottest new couple!”

Rose Petal, Miss Daffy’s best buddy, said: “Miss Daffy has been looking for love for a while now, so, I have to say I’m delighted she’s landed such a good ‘spud’.

“She called me up having spotted Mr Tatyo’s lonely heart advert and told me that she was going to get in touch…the rest, as they say is history! It’s early days, but from what I’ve seen he’s the perfect gentleman and has certainly put the smile back on Miss Daffy’s face.”

During his search for love Mr Tayto never once neglected his official crisp duties,at Tayto Castle in Tandragee.

He has also carried out many engagements across Northern Ireland, meeting his fans.

Elly Hunter, marketing director for Tayto, said: “The whole team here in Tandragee is delighted to see #MrTaytoinlove! Marie Curie is a charity close to the hearts of the whole Tayto team, who if not personally, have had friends, relatives or someone close touched by cancer.

“Miss Daffy really is the perfect partner for Mr Tayto and we are delighted that, as our organisations have worked together, something special has developed between the couple.

“Mr Tayto is very excited and is already planning all sorts of ways to show his affection for his new partner. He took Miss Daffy on a romantic picnic and intends to take her on some dates around Northern Ireland so keep an eye out for them and say ‘hello’. Even better, if you have any advice for the couple, let them know! It can be challenging maintaining such a high-profile relationship.”

Suzy McIlveen, partnership and sales manager from Marie Curie, added: “This is a really busy time for us, and for Miss Daffy. Our Great Daffodil Appeal (GDA) takes place in March and Miss Daffy will be helping our team of volunteers to encourage lots of people to wear a Daffodil in support of the charity. All money raised will stay in NI and will allow Marie Curie to continue to provide its nursing service across the country and at its Belfast Hospice.

“Our partnership with Tayto has been just that…a partnership, and has blossomed over the years, something we very much hope will be the case between Miss Daffy and Mr Tayto…fingers crossed.”

After placing a Lonely Hearts ad and undertaking a social media campaign to find love, Mr Tayto’s search for his perfect partner is over. Miss Daffy has won his heart.
