Said to be Northern Ireland's busiest ice cream parlour, Mauds’ Carrickfergus store offers a huge array of tantalising ice cream flavours - more than 24 at the last count, from sophisticated Coffee Biscottino, to firm family favourite Dairy Vanilla - all made locally at their Gleno dairy. Mauds ice cream is also available through independent cafe owners across Northern Ireland.

Nugelato: Newcastle, Bangor, Newry, Kilkeel
Nugelato opened its first ice cream boutique in Newcastle in 2015, offering a fresh and innovative range of deluxe ice cream delights. Ice cream fans loved the flavours, and Nugelato now has seven boutiques offering delicious ice cream confections combined with nuts, chocolate, Kinder Buenos and Snickers - even Haribo flavours.
Cafolla’s: The Square, Newtownards
For almost 100 years Cafolla’s have been bringing superb Italian-style ice cream to customers at their Newtownards parlour. This year, they have just created a new ice called “The Bees Knees”, made with their famous ice-cream, plus layers of honeycomb, toffee sauce and fresh cream. Not for anyone counting the calories, of course, but perfect to cool you down on a scorching summer’s day.
Timoney’s Ice Cream: Newry and Warrenpoint
From ice creams to delicious milkshakes, Timoney’s have been a constant on Co Down’s seafront for almost 80 years. In addition to their range of tempting ice cream flavours, they offer a great range of tasty toppings, from bubblegum pearls, chocolate sprinkles to marshmallows and crunchy honeycomb.

Famous for its homemade ice cream, coffee and desserts, as well as cones, sundaes, waffles, crepes, cookie dough and more, Joe Jackson’s latest offering is the ‘Lotus Biscoff Whirly Joe’ sundae - and they even make ice-cream birthday cakes. Their motto? “An ice cream in both hands is a balanced diet!”
Ben’s Ice Cream Studio, Magherafelt
This is a family run business providing delicious treats and homemade artisan ice cream, and founder Ben Boyd says his two parlours - one in Magherafelt and another in Toome - are ll stocked up and ready for summer. All their ices are made using locally sourced milk and cream.
Tickety Moo Farm Shop: Oghill Farm, Killadeas
Complete with a viewing gallery where visitors can see the dairy herd that supplies the milk for the ice cream, this is an ice cream farm shop with a difference! Visitors can watch its herd of award-winning pedigree jersey cows being milked and then visit the ice cream parlour and enjoy lots of fantastic flavours including Bubblegum Mallow, Balsamic Strawberry, Rhubarb Crumble and custard, Double Caramel Fudge Chunk and many more.
Café Scoop, Strabane
