
The Library Collection from Adam’s will take place on April 26
Adam’s Library Collection is in its third year and is proving to be a successful feature of the spring sale season. It offers a range of interesting period furniture, paintings, sculpture, books and collectables. The sale takes place on April 26 at 2pm in the Stephen’s Green salerooms.
Amongst the sale highlights:
Lot 13: Early 19th century carved wood figure of Admiral Lord Nelson (€1,000 - €1,500)
Lot 16: Large Swizz Black Forest carved linden wood bear hall stand, 19th century. See similar example in ‘Swiss Carvings, The Art of the Black Forest’, pp.108, illus. 169 (€4,000 – €6,000)
Lot 20: French giltmetal and porcelain mounted carriage clock by Lucien of Paris C.1845 (€4,000 – €6,000)
Lot 42: Style of Henry Alken (C.1830) A huntsman clearing a stream after a pack of hounds, the hunt in full flight in an extensive landscape with parish church and windmill. Oil on canvas, 100 x 127cm (€6,000 – €10,000). Detailed and presumably accurate treatment of the landscape would suggest a local artist, perhaps Leicestershire.
Lot 58: David Roberts, The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt and Nubia. London: Day & Son 1855. Four volumes bound in 2, Quarto edition (€2,000 – €3,000)
Lot 100: Louis XIV Beauvais tapestry, C.1680-1720 From the series ‘’The Crowned Crane’’, ‘’Les Oiseaux de la Menagerie’’ (€15,000 – €20,000)
