Celebrity home front: Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
The famous faces on the property ladder
Willam and Kate Oh dear, the new Duke of Duchess of Cambridge have just chosen a royal apartment at Kensington Palace, and they’re complaining about a lack of privacy already.
Nottingham Cottage, which is where the newly-weds will call home when they are in London, is overlooked by other homes, mostly inhabited by palace staff.
The couple are considering other options, but are willing to stay put for the time being as it is not their permanent home. With Prince William’s posting in North Wales, KP is just a stopover when he is not working. William and Kate have taken over the palace home of Prince Philip’s former private secretary Brigadier Sir Miles Hunt-Davis and his wife Anita.
It is next door to the Duke of Kent, who lives in Wren Cottage at the back of the main palace. However, there are a number of buildings containing staff accommodation close by.
“Some of the domestic staff live in flats overlooking them,” says a source.
And the Cambridges are also concerned about potential snoopers as local schools use nearby Perks Field.
However, the field is also the spot where the royals’ helicopters take off and land. And with William and Kate’s presence likely to increase traffic, concerns have been raised such as health and safety issues.
Despite this, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “As far as we are concerned, there is no change in the use of Perks Field. It continues to be used by local schools.”
Nicole Richie’s LA house is now available to rent for just under 6,000 dollars a month.
The Simple Life star shared the home, which belonged to her husband Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden first before they got together.
The Spanish-style property which has four-bedrooms and four bathrooms was Madden’s bachelor pad before he started dating Nicole in 2006.
Now the pair are married and have a two-year-old daughter Harlow, so they are looking for a bigger family home. It seems the 4,800 sq ft abode just isn’t big enough for the Madden clan anymore.
TV presenter Melinda Messenger and her husband Wayne Roberts have put their five-bedroom riverside home on the market for £1.75m.
The picture-perfect property with its own private island sits on the banks of the River Kennet in the village of Padworth in Berkshire.
The couple, who live in the home with their three young children Morgan, 11, Flynn, nine, and Evie, seven, completely renovated the property building two summer houses and adding a stunning conservatory.
