Celebrity home front: Twilight star Robert Pattinson

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has bought a £4m Hollywood mansion... next door to priests.

The Spanish colonial-style home in the popular Los Feliz area of LA has many luxury features such as a solar-heated swimming pool.

And as well as the usual array of stars living nearby, such as former ER actor Noah Wylie and singer Gwen Stefani, the 25-year old British actor who found fame playing a vampire now has a group of Catholic priests among his neighbours.

The Order of Columban Fathers live in a house nearby. A local estate agent joked: “I doubt they will be too concerned to have a vampire living in their midst.”

Julian Clary

Performer-turned-writer Julian Clary says it was his move to the Kent countryside — and a very special house — that inspired his new book.

Julian (52) lives in Noel Coward’s former home and says it is the ghost of the former playwright/actor and singer that is responsible for the plot of his novel.

Although he has held onto his Camden home, Julian was told about Coward’s country manor by his friend Paul O’Grady, who lives nearby.

“Paul told me about the whole Noel Coward aspect and that’s why I came to look at it. I still have my London place and as long as I can afford to, I will keep both.

His new book Briefs Encountered features many characters, including the old manor itself. And yes, Noel Coward appears in it too, in a story which travels back to and from the past.

It’s also something of a ghost story — and this is based on his personal experience of the house which he says is haunted. “I saw a ghost in a Cavalier costume and another young man with immense sadness,” he adds. And there have been some spooky goings-on at Julian’s new home, such as pictures falling off the wall and things breaking, which he believes are linked to spirits.

Maria Shriver

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife Maria Shriver has moved into a new $12m (£7.6m) mansion in LA following the end of the couple’s marriage. She will now set up home at an exclusive Brentwood address which has a swimming pool and secure parking. But Ms Shriver hasn’t moved far, just minutes down the road from the house she shared with her soon-to-be-ex.

The completely refurbished property has 11,000 sq ft of space with eight bedrooms, seven baths, a gym, theatre room and wine cellar.
