Expect 1970s minimalist chic with the new Sir Terence Conran collection, which is unveiled today at Marks & Spencer.
The stylish new homeware range is now available at M&S stores, online and via mobile.
The much-anticipated collaboration, designed under the personal guidance of Sir Terence Conran, includes furniture and upholstery, home accessories, lighting and soft furnishings at M&S prices.
The preview collection has just 70 inspiring products, focusing on a capsule range of stylish dining and living furniture and accessories.
Offering intelligently designed objects for contemporary living, the pieces are based on a sophisticated colour palette that mixes ochre, teal, grey and purple with clean modern shapes that have a timeless elegance.
Stand out pieces include: the Ackroyd sofa with iconic curves and sleek metal feet; Wilkins oak shelving featuring petrol blue fire hose valve handles; and a contemporary collection of science inspired vases in ceramic and glass.
The range uses the finest quality materials and craftsmanship with a combination of solid oak and veneer cabinetry, 100% wool upholstery and real feather |inners in cushions. All the upholstery is individually made to order in the UK at M&S’ eco factory in Wales with a choice of 14 Conran exclusive fabrics.
Marc Bolland, M&S chief executive M&S said: “Sir Terence is Britain's most influential designer and I’ve long admired his work. Customers will love the combination of exquisite contemporary design and the unique quality and value of M&S.”
Sir Terence Conran said: “Working with Marks & Spencer has offered us the chance to produce a truly democratic, British collection of exceptional quality. With this range we have created useful and beautiful products that can improve the quality of people’s lives and give them years of pleasure”.
Spring 2012 will see a roll out of a much larger collection of over 300 Conran Exclusive Design products for M&S including bedding, kitchenware, bathroom accessories and an outdoor range.
