HLM opens its doors in 'Ask an Architect' advice session charity day for cancer research

Design and architecture company, HLM, will be opening their Belfast city centre office to the public this weekend as members of the team volunteer their time and expertise in a bid to raise vital funds for cancer research.

The company, which provides architecture, landscape and urban design, interiors and environmental design to the commercial and public sectors in Northern Ireland and across the UK, is joining chartered architects across Northern Ireland as they throw open their doors for the charity initiative, organised by the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA), not-for-profit organisation PLACE, and the Jill Todd Trust.

On Saturday April 16 members of the public will be given the opportunity to avail of HLM’s expert advice and 50 years’ experience in the sector, answering queries on a range of architecture, building and design topics through individual one-hour consultations, in exchange for a £40 charitable donation to the Jill Todd Trust.

The Trust was set up to commemorate Jill, daughter of local architect Barrie Todd, whose life was taken by cancer at the age of 23.

The proceeds raised through the ‘Ask an Architect’ event will be presented to The Friends of the Cancer Centre charity to donate to Belfast’s Cancer Research Centre.

Karl Ruddle, who heads up HLM in Ireland said, “We are delighted to work with RSUA and PLACE on this fantastic initiative to support the Jill Todd Trust. HLM has always been committed to supporting both local charities and the wider community in Northern Ireland and our participation in the ‘Ask an Architect’ event further demonstrates this commitment. The event is a great way for our staff to get involved and give something back to the community, whilst using our expertise to help raise vital funds for cancer research in Northern Ireland. We applaud RSUA and PLACE for organising this fantastic initiative which will unite the industry and see architects across Northern Ireland come together to volunteer time and services for a great cause, in memory of the daughter of one of our own peers.”
