Adam’s summer season of sales starts off with the At Home Auction taking place on Tuesday, June 14 at 11am. The character of this sale is to offer a range of quality period furniture, silver, decorative arts and paintings which can be incorporated into a contemporary house setting. Antiques can add another dimension to our surroundings, enriching the character of our homes.

As the company moves into the summer season, the catalogue opens with a number of lots for the garden. White painted cast iron benches (Lots 1 €1,000 – 1,500 and 5 €1,800 – 2,200) or a set of chairs and table (lot 2 €600 – 1,000) and beautiful Victorian garden urn that would work brilliantly as a planter (Lot 3 €1,000 – 1,500).

For items for the hallway and entrance rooms, a Victorian stick and umbrella stand (Lot 8 €300 – 400) and some rosewood canes to accompany it (lot 13 €250 – 350); an elegant mahogany hat and coat stand (lot 12 €400 – 600); for a slightly more unusual find, an Edwardian oak and brass mounted post cabinet (lot 14 €400 – 600). A particularly attractive provincial willow wood console table (lot 28 €800 – 1,200) would be a lovely addition to an entrance way.

There are a number of Persian runners in the sale which would suit as soft furnishings for wooden hallway floors (lot 17 €700 – 1,000; lot 42 €500 – 800; lot 404 €400 - 600).

For collectors of antique designer luggage, there are two lots of Louis Vuitton suitcases (lot 10 €1,500 – 2,000 & lot 11 €500 – 800), one is immediately recognisable with the LV logo, and the larger of the two it also comes with monogrammed wooden hangers. The other is a smaller and earlier example in plain brown hide and is covered with stickers, mementos of past travels. These lots reflect a time when travel was more luxurious - by virtue of it also being a luxury not available to all – when people travelled in style by train or boat. In a contemporary setting they can function as storage trunks in bedrooms or hallways.

This sale offers a number of beautiful cut glass chandeliers. For those homes blessed with high ceilings, there are two nine branch Waterford ‘Lismore’ examples (lots 25 & 26 €1,500 – 2,000). As well as an elegant pair of six branch baluster chandeliers with candle sconces (lot 374 €3,000 – 5,000).

Further highlights from the sale include two impressive overmantel mirrors (Lot 18 €1,500 – 2,500 & Lot 34 €3,000 - 5,000).
