Who you work for? partner/|director at Ulster Property Sales

What brought you into the business?

My father was in the vanguard of what would be regarded as modern day estate agency, so it seemed a |natural path to follow having grown up with it.

Who has inspired you in the property world?

My colleagues — they continue to surpass all others in their field and never stop surprising me with their ability and enthusiasm.

What do you have sitting on your desk?

A picture of my son, a computer and a large mug, normally full of tea.

Downtime is?

Mountain biking with my son, |gardening and the odd beer.

Do you do lunch?

I wish I could, but lunch is normally a quick sandwich on the move.

What qualifications do you think are essential for estate agency?

A sharp eye for detail, common sense in spades, a nose for a deal, a head for figures, an unquivering knowledge of your market and a twinkle in the eye.

What did you want to be when you were a child?

A professional tennis player.

If you could give it all up tomorrow, where in the world would you move to, and what would you do?

The south of France has always appealed to me.

Any unfulfilled ambitions?

Plenty, if I was 20 years younger.

What is the most common misconception people have about estate agents?

I don't think people realise the long hours and the stress we are constantly under.
