This former 19th century country school has been carefully converted into a charming modern home. Stephanie Bell reports...

This iconic building in the village of Warringstown known as The Old School House served the children in the area from 1861 right up until 1983.

A beautiful historic stone building, it was converted so expertly in 2014 that it is hard to imagine that it was ever anything other than a cosy and luxurious family home.

A spacious 2569sq ft, it combines many of the unique period features from the original building with high end modern finishes.

It is a spacious family home with five double bedrooms and one-plus reception rooms or it lends itself easily to having four bedrooms and two plus reception rooms.

There is a show stopping reception hall/entertaining space, a living room, top of the range kitchen/dining room, en suite shower room, a walk in dressing room and two spacious bathrooms.

The house enjoys a beautiful country setting yet is close to a number of towns including Lurgan where there are easy links for commuting via the M1.

Stepping into the reception hall there is an immediate sense of the quality of the conversion carried out here.

This grand space features a spectacular spiral staircase which takes centre stage in a room which is currently being used as a dining room and even has space for a grand piano.

It is finished with a wooden strip floor and double doors open to the welcoming living room.

This fresh and modern space is also finished with a wooden effect stripped floor and at its heart is a lovely fireplace with cream multi fuel stove. Multiple windows offer views of the countryside.

There is another cosy family room which could also serve as a fifth bedroom and then you step into a stunning kitchen/dining room.

It's clear that good design and quality finishes were important in creating this essential family hub. An excellent range of grey painted units which include a large larder cupboard are designed around a fabulous feature island and breakfast bar.

There is an integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, built-in microwave, wine cooler and Rangemaster sink unit. The worktops are granite and the room is wired for a wall mounted TV and finished with attractive ceramic floor tiles.

A contemporary bathroom on the ground floor is ultra stylish and spacious. It features a free standing roll top bath and a beautiful vanity unit with wash hand basin.

Up the spiral staircase and the large first floor landing has been put to great use with a walk in dressing room complete with rails, shelves and drawers.

The master bedroom is also spacious and comes with a decadent en suite with electric shower and attractive vanity unit.

All of the bedrooms have a calm and stylish ambience and there is another luxury bathroom on this floor with a free standing roll top bath and a walk in shower.

Outside and the gardens have been given the same level of attention with neat lawns, numerous patios looking out over the countryside and attractive mature planting. There is also a driveway.
