Just born: Connor Thomas Gordon
One Bangor baby put his dad’s music festival plans on the back-burner this week when he arrived four days early.
Company director Andrew Maybin (36) had planned to |see English rock band Elbow |at Belfast’s Belsonic event |when his wife went into labour.
“He wasn’t due until Friday, but my wife went into labour at 6pm on Monday,” Andrew said.
“I was going to see Elbow, but I gave the tickets away to some friends.”
It was a small sacrifice to make as in the early hours of Tuesday his wife delivered a beautiful baby boy.
Connor Thomas Gordon weighed in at a very healthy 8lbs 4oz. His mum Vicki Maybin was recovering at the Ulster Hospital maternity unit after 10 hours of labour.
More familiar on our TV screens as Vicki Hawthorne, Sky News’ Ireland correspondent was a bit camera-shy — not surprising after starring in her own dramatic story.
“I haven’t decided how long I will be on maternity leave, but at least six months,” she said.
“His dad is very tall at 6ft 4ins, so we were expecting him to be a big baby.”
