Just born: Emily Sarah McKennon's a welcome addition to the family

Amelia Turley and Craig McKennon from Lisburn are celebrating the birth of their second child.

Emily Sarah McKennon weighed 7lb 6oz and measured 50cm when she was born at the Lagan Valley Hospital's midwife-led unit on March 1 at 7.27am.

Amelia spoke of the moment she held her daughter for the first time.

"It was amazing," Amelia said.

"Knowing I have one of each is great.

"Everybody says she looks like her daddy.

"She is grand. She is doing well."

Care assistant Amelia (22) and Craig (26), an aircraft engineer, are not the only ones fascinated by the new arrival, who is the first granddaughter for both sides of the family.

Big brother Jake, aged just 15 months, is also enjoying the new addition.

"He loves her," Amelia said.

"He knows there is a new wee baby in the house."

Amelia praised the standard of care provided by staff at Lagan Valley.

"They were brilliant," she said.

"The girls were so good.

"I arrived at the hospital at the very last stage so they coped very well."

Amelia and Craig are enjoying watching their daughter thrive and grow, and would like to thank friends and family for all the support shown to them since Emily's arrival.

"Thanks to everyone for all their well wishes," Amelia said.
