Just born: Erin and Elena Archer
Little Jade Archer had more to be excited about than most little girls starting school this month.
The four-year-old, from Dundonald, outside Belfast, just got two new sisters after her mother gave birth last week to twins.
The girls, Erin and Elena, were delivered at the Ulster Hospital on Tuesday, August 23, just before 9pm.
Mum and dad, Deborah and Nigel Archer, were delighted when Erin arrived weighing 6lb 15oz.
Then, just seven minutes later, another tiny bundle weighing just 4lb 14oz came into the world.
Deborah (34), said the labour went very smoothly and was all over in less than four hours.
“I knew we were having twins, but I didn’t know what sex they were,” she said.
“We have a little girl, Jade, who will be five in September. She just saw them this morning and is very excited.
“She was very pleased to have two wee sisters.”
Deborah’s parents, Rae and Jim Sloan, from Belfast, had come to the hospital for a peek at their new granddaughters.
Multiple births run on Deborah’s side of the family.
Rae is a twin herself and her sister had triplets. Jim Sloan also has sisters who are twins.
On Nigel’s side of the family Derek and Doreen Archer, from Newtownards, are also clocking up the grandchildren.
“My parents are delighted with the twins,” said Nigel.
“My sister is expecting her third child around Christmas, which will make six grandchildren altogether.”
