Just Born: Little Emily is perfect present for Christmas

Alison and Roy Lucas from Lisburn are celebrating the birth of their first child who arrived in time for Christmas.

Emily Jayne Lucas weighed 8lbs 3oz when she was born at the Lagan Valley Hospital's midwife-led unit on December 21 at 2.05am.

Restaurant manager Alison (28) and Roy (32), a civil servant, were thrilled at their beautiful baby daughter's arrival in the world.

"It was such a shock to see her," said Alison.

"We were both so happy."

The new addition to the family is the double of her father.

"She looks like her dad," Alison said.

Alison praised the midwives and other staff at Lagan Valley for the care they provided to her young family.

"The staff were great," she said.

"They were very helpful and so friendly.

"The midwives could not have done any more for us."

Being parents for the first time is the challenging and rewarding experience the happy but tired couple had been expecting.

"So far, so good," Alison said.

"She is a very content wee baby so far.

"There is no trouble out of her at all."

Alison and Roy say little Emily is the most wonderful Christmas present anyone could ever have given them.

"It is so nice she was here in time for Christmas," Alison added.

"We are very happy."
