Just born: Mary McKay-Campbell and Douglas Campbell

'We're both so delighted with our little pixie'

Mary McKay-Campbell and Douglas Campbell from Glasgow are celebrating the birth of their daughter Annie.

Mary (35), originally from Dromara, Co Down, and Douglas (37) welcomed the beautiful baby girl into the world on Sunday, March 8.

Annie Kim Campbell weighed 9lbs 5oz and measured 56cms when she was born at the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.

Mary recalled holding her daughter for the first time.

"It was overwhelming," she said.

"We thought how beautiful she was. Perfect."

The proud new mum, whose daughter was born on International Women's Day, praised the hospital staff for the care provided to her young family.

"The staff were wonderful," she said.

"They were all very helpful and kind.

"And our family and friends have all been so good. Thanks to everyone for all the congratulations and lovely cards and messages."

Annie is doing well.

"She is great," Mary said.

"She is thriving and a good sleeper, like me.

"She is getting more and more alert as each day passes."

The couple's baby daughter is named after two women that hold a special place in their hearts.

"She is named after my great auntie Annie, who I was very close to, and Dougie chose Kim after Kim from the Pixies, his favourite band from the '90s," Mary said.
