Couple toast £5,000 wedding day prize

By Brendan McDaid

A Londonderry couple have spoken of their delight after winning a prize which will enable them to finally tie the knot in style after 10 years and two children together.

Caroline Campbell (35) and her fiance Michael Roddy (27) had been due to wed several years ago but, shortly after Michael proposed, they discovered they were expecting twins — Oscar and Ava, who are now four years old.

Then the big day faced a second delay when Oscar was diagnosed with autism two years ago, forcing Caroline to leave work to care for him.

But the Galliagh couple are finally heading up the aisle after beating off stiff competition from couples across the north west to win a £5,000 wedding package from Derry’s City Hotel.

The prize includes a wedding reception for 100 guests at the hotel, professional photographs and hair and beauty on the big day by Syenna.
