Just Married: Aoife and Dave Magee - married life is music to the ears of couple after a nervous start

Aoife and Dave Magee are enjoying married life in Dublin following their humanist wedding ceremony in Co Meath.

Aoife (nee Higgins), an administrator from Dublin and Dave (33) from Belfast, a musician in Little Matador and Goons, met on September 5, 2009 at what used to be Auntie Annie's bar.

"It was pretty clear from the off that we liked each other but neither of us was giving too much away," Aoife (24) said.

"When the night ended, I had to go back to Dublin, so sneakily gave him a quick kiss and ran into the night, leaving him looking a bit bewildered to say the least.

"From there on in, we were ringing, texting, emailing daily and for the first few weeks we were both acting very coy about how we were feeling.

"A month later though, I bit the bullet and hopped on a bus to Belfast where we had our first date.

"With all the nerves poor Dave managed to peg a pint of beer all around me but by that stage I was hooked and the rest is history really."

The couple spent the next four years splitting their time between Belfast and Dublin but are now based in Dublin.

They married on March 19 at Bellinter House in Navan.

"We had a humanist ceremony which suited our personalities perfectly," Aoife said.

"We had the freedom to choose readings that suited us best. It was such a beautiful service."

Their first dance as husband and wife was to I Need Your Love So Bad by Little Willie John. "It's an oldie but we love it," Aoife said.

Their wedding day was everything they dreamed it would be.

"It was beyond any expectations I ever had," Aoife said.

"I know it's cliched to say it was the best day of my life but it really was.

"There was just a very laid-back and loving feeling for the whole day. And most importantly, I got to marry my closest friend."

The Magees are just back from "a mini-moon in Paris" and married life is going well.

"We love it," Aoife said.

The newlyweds would like to thank their everyone for helping make thei r day so special.
