David and Kathy Martin, now living in Dromara, fell in love in 2006 after meeting at the end of a night out in Belfast.

David (30), an alarm engineer from Finaghy, and Kathy (33), maiden name Dickson, a travel agency manager from Hillsborough, got chatting outside Thompson’s Garage nightclub.

A mutual friend introduced them and there was an instant spark.

“It was love at first sight,” Kathy said. “We moved in with each other six months later.”

Their son Ollie arrived in June 2010 and six months later, on Christmas Day, they became engaged.

“David held Ollie in his arms and then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife,” Kathy said.

“I, of course, said ‘yes’, and then me and my mum Elaine started to arrange the wedding.”

The Martins’ big day was November 18, 2011.

They tied the knot in front of 84 guests at Legacurry Church, just outside Lisburn, followed by

a reception at La Mon Hotel and Country Club.

The newlyweds took to the floor for their first dance as man and wife to Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.

“The service was so laid-back,” Kathy explained. “I know the minister, Bobby Liddle, and it was very personal.

“The whole day was fabulous.”

She added: “We want to thank the wedding co-ordinator at the La Mon and Katie Larmour from Petticoat Lane for all their hard work on our day.

“They couldn't have been more helpful.

“We also want to thank our parents for all their love and support.”

After the wedding, David, Kathy and little Ollie headed off to Gran Canaria to enjoy a family holiday in the sun. David and Kathy are enjoying their married life together and can't wait to add to the family.

“We are absolutely loving married life,” Kathy said.

“And we're ready now for number two.”
