Just married: Georgina and Anthony Gibson

Couple tie the knot at the venue where they first met

Georgina and Anthony Gibson are enjoying family life following their beautiful wedding on April 18 – a little more than 10 years after they first met and fell in love.

On March 28, 2003, Georgina, a waitress from Ballymena, and Anthony, a joiner from Kilrea, had been on nights out with their respective friends at Tullyglass House Hotel when they got chatting.

From then, they began to date and quickly realised they were meant for each other.

Their relationship was strengthened further when their beautiful little daughter Caitlin (5) was born and then they added to the family with the arrival of Jonathan, now two.

On New Year's Eve 2007, the couple were enjoying the festivities and when the clock struck midnight signalling the beginning of 2008, Anthony proposed.

"It was very romantic," Georgina said. "Anthony took me up to Slemish to propose.

"He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We could hear and see all the fireworks going off in the background.

"I was an extra-special way to start 2008."

The happy couple, both 28, organised their wedding for 30 guests together and knew there could be nowhere else to tie the knot but the place they had met each other more than a decade ago. Their first dance as husband and wife was to Lonestar's Amazed.

"It was a lovely day," Georgina added. "It was very relaxed and just the way we wanted it to be.

"It's nice to be married – it feels good."

Georgina explained that their relationship works because they are kindred spirits.

"We are quite similar people, apart from the odd trait," Georgina said. "Anthony is quite a relaxed person, whereas I like things done when I want them done – a typical woman, he says.

"We get on so well and have the same sort of personality. We work well together."

The Gibsons haven't had time for a honeymoon, but are planning a holiday this summer to celebrate their new Mr and Mrs status.

"We want to say thank you to all our friends and family for being their with us on our day," Georgina added. "And also to Danny Joyce for taking such beautiful photographs of us."
