Just married: Michelle and Brian McMullan
Cupid’s arrows were flying as newlyweds celebrated their nuptials at an action-packed weekend in Co Fermanagh.
Brian McMullan (34) and Michelle McLouglin (32), both from north Belfast, had their wedding reception at Lusty Beg island, where they laid on a feast of activities for their guests.
The happy couple entertained guests with a spot of archery, canoeing and even clay pigeon shooting.
Brian explained: “We have a lot of family living abroad, so we wanted to choose somewhere that would be a weekend event.
“People came from Budapest, different parts of England and as far away as New Zealand. There were lots of activities for everyone.”
The lakeland venue inspired Brian to organise a seaplane to arrive at the island with his new wife, but unfortunately there was an unforeseen problem which meant it had to be cancelled.
“We didn’t let that spoil the day and arrived instead in four wheels,” he said.
The couple have been together for more than 10 years and |have two children, but they |decided finally to tie the knot earlier this year, because Michelle’s
mother had been unwell. The wedding was held at Holy Cross church in Ardoyne. Brian’s brother, Keith, flew in from Prague to be best man.
Michelle’s sister, Nicola, was bridesmaid and the couple’s children — Erin-Rose and Piaras — were flower girl and page boy. Brian runs Madden’s Bar, a |popular Irish folk music venue in Belfast city centre, and he brought 10 musicians from the bar to play at the reception. “We had a great weekend and it was fantastic to have all the families together,” Brian said.
The couple plan to go on honeymoon to Florida next year with their children.
