Pam's People: Unplugging air guitar for charity quiz night

By Pamela Ballantine

There are times when it pays to make an eejit of yourself - which is what I did on stage at the Action for Children Never Mind the Business Unplugged music table quiz in the Black Box, Belfast. Having lost my voice it was not easy to be in charge of the microphone, which is why I decided to deploy my air guitar skills to get the attention of the participants who did a tremendous job answering some rather tricky questions and raising more than £12,000.

I love a road trip so an invitation to Dublin with like-minded souls was right up my street as we were invited to join the celebration event of Hop House 13 Lager, the latest beer from the Brewers Project and continues 256 years of tradition from St James's Gate. Before the return journey guests were treated to food and lager pairings with music from All Tvvins.

A lot of familiar faces who love a good night out helped their friend Denise remember and celebrate the life of her dear dad WJ Robinson.

Determined to give something back, his family held the event in Shu in aid of the charity Marie Curie Cancer Care on the date that would have been Billy's 73rd birthday.
