Forced to watch by my uncle

Northern Ireland's number one agony aunt Fiona Hurley answers your problems

Dear Fiona, I am 11-years-old and I read what you said in the paper about what sexual abuse is and I think it’s happening to me.

My uncle shows me pictures on his computer and he has said they’re only for grown-up people but he won’t tell my parents that I’ve been looking at them.

I don’t want to look but he makes me. I’m afraid to tell my mummy and daddy in case they get angry.

Dear M.R,

Please don’t be afraid to tell your parents what’s happening. It’s extremely important that you do tell them or someone older who you trust as they’ll know you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong.

It’s completely your uncle’s fault as he’s an adult who knows he shouldn’t be exposing you to this material.

He is only telling you your parents will be angry to frighten you into keeping quiet.

If you want to speak to someone before you tell your parents please call Childline on 0800 1111.
