My mother in law snubs me

I can’t cope any longer with my mother-in-law.

I've been married for 15 years and she completely ignores me. My husband’s no help — he just sticks up for her all the time.

I suppose I should have got used to it, but it just makes me angrier and angrier. I feel like refusing to go and see her and not letting the children go either.

Would I be right? KP

I think you'd be well within your rights to refuse to see her.

Your husband should be backing you up but, instead, he can't or won't see how upset you are.

Make it clear to them both that enough is enough and tell her that either she treats you with at least common courtesy or else she can forget future visits.

Keeping the children away, though, is a trickier matter. They shouldn't be used as pawns in a power struggle, so if they're old enough, let them chose whether to visit.
