Belfast International Airport's tips for a speedy summer getaway
With almost two million passengers jetting off over the summer months, holiday-goers have been advised to prepare for the rush at Belfast International Airport.
The security area at the airport has be bolstered in recent months with new equipment and extra staff to reduce queuing times, however it is expected to be busy around peak times.
Throughout June, July and August the airport expects more than 28,000 passengers to travel on around 200 flights on its busiest days.
Belfast International Airport has issued a range of tips to ensure a speedy getaway.
- Arrive at least two hours before your flight and have your boarding pass ready.
- Place all liquids in hold baggage to save time at the security search area.
- At the security area, remove all outer clothing and belts to place in the trays, along with laptops and tablets.
- If travelling with infants, you can bring baby food and milk over 100ml, however this will be searched, so only bring enough for the journey.
Managing director of Belfast International Airport, Graham Keddie, said: “The summer season is our busiest and we are advising passengers that our security area will be busy at times, so, by following these top tips, it will speed up the security process for everyone.
“We will have extra staff deployed around security to assist passengers with their preparation.”
