Thomasena O'Bryne and Sarah

As a journalism student on a one-year placement in East Africa, Thomasena O’Byrne (40) “happened to cross paths” with a nine-month-old baby girl, Sarah, and her life was forever changed.

‘I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have her in my life’

Thomasena, originally from Holywood, lives and works in Malawi with her now 15-year-old daughter and five cats.
