Armagh police in distraction burglaries alert

By Staff Reporter

Police are appealing for information after reports of a distraction burglary and men acting suspiciously in Co Armagh.

An elderly woman in the Millview Park area of Richhill said two men called at her house between 1pm and 2pm on Friday.

They claimed they were there to look at the cooker and left after having a look at it. It is not believed anything was stolen.

A man in the Clovenden Road area of Loughgall said that just before 4.30pm the same day, he saw three men acting suspiciously behind his house. When he challenged the men, who were in a silver car, they told him that they were "looking for someone".

And money was stolen from an elderly man's Portadown home, also on Friday. He said that shortly before 4.30pm a man called at his home in the Drumanphy Road area and inquired about replacing electricity poles. The man went outside, only to find two men in his house when he came back. They ran out of the front door and it's believed they left in a car with the stolen money.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact detectives at Newry on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
