A security alert in Co Tyrone has ended. The Favour Royal Road in Aughnacloy was closed for almost 24 hours amid fears that a bomb had been left in the area.
The alert began following the discovery of a suspicious van shortly before 9pm on Wednesday. Army bomb experts attended and examined the van yesterday and a number of controlled explosions were carried out.
Nothing suspicious was found and the road reopened last night.
The latest scare comes just weeks after a powerful 300lb bomb was found by police in the town last month.
Hundreds of people were forced to flee their homes during last month's alert, in which a van containing the explosives was abandoned in a built-up area outside the police station.
