Belfast man in hospital after attack by baseball bat gang in his home

A man had to go to hospital for treatment to a head injury after being attacked by a gang armed with baseball bats in his west Belfast home.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the aggravated burglary in the Downfine Walk area on Wednesday night.

It was reported that at around 8.30pm three men entered a house in the area and assaulted the 26-year-old male occupant with baseball bats. 

The male was taken to hospital for treatment for a laceration to his head and bruising to his ribs as a result of the incident. 

A 19-year-old female who was in the property at the time was not injured. The males are believed to have made off on foot.

Detective Sergeant Adam Ruston is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact Detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1502 04/07/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
