This award is for every single one of us. Those are the words of a very proud Eleanor Mulholland, deputy manager of Daisies Cafe in Newtownards, after accepting the Service with a Smile award. “I’m delighted,” she said.
“I’m so happy for everybody that works at Daisies. This award is for us all. It’s a positive place to be and more and more people are coming to the shop.
“It’s just fantastic for the entire community.”
Daisies Cafe provides an alternative form of day care for people with learning disabilities and mental illness through training and employment.
The staff take pride in providing |customers with the best customer service, combined with freshly cooked food using only the finest and freshest ingredients.
Neil Holland, from firmus energy, said it was a great honour to be involved with the Making The Difference awards and a pleasure to meet the hardworking staff.
“Congratulations to everyone at Daisies Cafe,” he said.
“The idea is fantastic and it’s great they have received this well deserved award.
“We are focusing on customer service ourselves and think this is a great thing to be displayed on an everyday basis,” he added.
Ross McIlwaine, volunteer director, said: “Winning was such a surprise. Even to be in the category is an honour.
“Everyone works really hard so this award is for us all. It’s fantastic.”
Stephanie Campbell, who has worked at Daisies for five years, had a fantastic night with her friends and colleagues at the Grand Opera House.
She said she enjoyed the entertainment acts and, of course, receiving the award.
Everyone was treated to her fantastic skills as a saleswoman, as she recruited new customers from the hundreds of people gathered at the glittering Grand Opera House awards ceremony, by explaining the opening hours and a bit about the services that her staff at the Co Down cafe offer.
