Belfast man charged with making threat to kill with steak knife

by Alan Erwin

A Belfast man appeared in court today charged with having a steak knife and making a threat to kill.

Ryan McKiernan (22) is also accused of criminal damage to the window of a Northern Ireland Housing Executive property.

The alleged offences were committed on October 20.

McKiernan, of Benmore Drive in the Finaghy area, entered the dock at Belfast Magistrates to be charged with threatening to kill another man on that date.

A second count involves possession of an offensive weapon, namely a steak knife, with intent to commit threats to kill.

No further details about the alleged incident were disclosed.

A Public Prosecution Service lawyer requested two weeks to consider its position in the case.

Releasing McKiernan on continuing bail, District Judge Liam McNally told him to return to court on December 13.
