Pupils at Breda Academy are building bridges with the Belfast Telegraph ahead of the school's historic opening in September.

Pupils from Knockbreda and Newtownbreda High Schools took part in a programme to help create friendships and learn new skills before the planned amalgamation of the two Belfast schools.

Each teaching department hosted their own activity, with the technology department using old Belfast Telegraphs to create paper bridges.

Breda Academy principal Matthew Munro said: "There has been a great deal of interest from parents, pupils and prospective staff all keen to be part of Breda Academy.

"This week was a marvellous opportunity to start building our new school community."
