Mandatory job advice proposed for pupils
Compulsory career classes should be introduced to help fill the gaps in schools' careers advice, an Assembly watchdog has said.
The Assembly's employment and learning committee has also called for more input from businesses in careers advice, which should be given a statutory footing.
The call comes on the back of the committee's inquiry in to careers advice.
"The right to careers advice at the right time can make a profound difference to a young person's life," North Antrim MLA Robin Swann, the committee's chair, said.
"We want to ensure that... science, technology and maths (STEM) subjects are being effectively promoted and that there is extra support for those facing barriers.
"Our young people deserve quality careers advice from qualified careers teachers who can inspire them."
