Airtricity contract will help health trusts use renewables

By Lisa Smyth

SSE Airtricity has won contracts to supply electricity and gas to four of Northern Ireland's five health trusts, a deal worth over £100m.

The deal with the Northern, Belfast, South Eastern and Western health trusts will see SSE Airtricity supply dual fuel natural gas and 100% renewable electricity. It will also supply natural gas to the Southern Trust.

Health Minister Michelle O'Neill said the contracts will result in the trusts saving in excess of £4m on electricity bills in the first year.
