Apple firm admits pollution of river

A family-run Armagh apple company yesterday pleaded guilty to polluting a river.

Orchard Fresh Foods Ltd was convicted at Armagh Magistrates Court.

The firm operates on Creenagh Road, Loughgall, near a tributary of the Tall river.

A river water sample taken by an Environment Agency inspector last December was contaminated with fungus harmful to fish. The company will not be punished if there are no further offences in the next two years.
