A disabled riding group and a Belfast residents' group have been shortlisted in the hunt for the greenest community in Ireland.
Calor yesterday announced the shortlist of nominees for the new Calor Sustainable Community Champion 2014, which includes Riding for the Disabled Coleraine and Lower Malone Residents' Association.
The all-island initiative is searching for sustainable heroes who work to reduce their community's impact on the environment. It can be an individual or a group who give up their time, skills and expertise to improve their local community, by increasing its sustainability effort and reducing its impact on the environment.
The overall winner will receive £1,200 and a bursary of £6,000 for their chosen local charity or organisation. Two runners-up will each receive £400.
The public has until October 20 to vote for their favourite and the top four local sustainable champions and two wildcards will make it through to the final phase.
