Ex-Miss Ireland settles libel action

A High Court libel action in Dublin by two of the organisers of the Miss Ireland beauty competition, including former winner Andrea Roche, against a British newspaper group was settled yesterday.

Daily Mail publishers, Associated Newspapers (AN), “apologised unreservedly” to Ms Roche and to Margaret Humphries of Assets Model Agency over allegations related to their capacities as organisers of Miss Ireland.

In an apology read out in court by Eoin McCullough, for AN, the publisher said: “We fully accept that the Miss Ireland competition was organised and run according to the highest standards of professionalism and propriety.”
