Fraudster ordered to repay money to hotel

A fraudster who swindled boyfriends out of large sums of money also misappropriated over £27,000 from a hotel owned by Irish Apprentice star Bill Cullen, a court heard yesterday.

The fraudster (31) who goes by the names Diane Connelly and Diane McDonald, was sentenced on Monday to three years in jail for swindling £24,000 from her Donegal fiancé.

Yesterday, a decree for £27,000 was made against the same woman, for money she transferred from Muckross Park Hotel, Killarney.

Denis Horgan, for the hotel, told Killarney Circuit Court how Diane McDonald, of no given address, had taken up work at the hotel on April 18, 2006. A day later she used the hotel's digital credit card refund system to transfer £9,000 into a bank account in the name of a then Killarney boyfriend.

Last July at the Circuit Criminal Court in Tralee, McDonald was jailed for two years after she pleaded guilty to seven charges relating to the Muckross Park hotel.
