Staff who work in critical roles across Northern Ireland could be exempt from adhering to strict isolation rules even if they are close contacts of confirmed Covid-19 cases, it has emerged.

The Department of Health has said it is considering whether such a move could be taken to address staff shortages being created by the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Northern Ireland.
