Nurse strike suspended after last-minute talks

By Victoria O'Hara

Industrial action planned by local paediatric nurses has been temporarily suspended hours before a walkout.

Unison confirmed last night the strike over staff rotation, which was scheduled today at Antrim Area Hospital, had been postponed.

Last-minute talks throughout Tuesday and yesterday resulted in the suspension.

Brian Ferguson, regional organiser with Unison, said: “This is to allow for urgent meaningful negotiations to take place to try and resolve this trade dispute.”
