Organs of drug-death teenager Aaron Strong saves nine lives
Heartbroken family and friends have laid to rest a much-loved west Belfast teenager.
Aaron Strong (18) died on Thursday at the Royal Victoria Hospital, where he had been in a coma for several days. The “kind-hearted” teen, who could “turn his hand to anything mechanical”, had suffered a massive heart attack caused by taking a cocktail of powerful prescription sedatives, bought from street dealers, mixed with alcohol.
Although distraught, his family agreed to donate his organs, which helped save the lives of nine others, as a final act of generosity.
A mass took place yesterday at Corpus Christi Church, the day after his and twin brother Ryan’s 19th birthday, followed by a funeral at Milltown Cemetery.
Mourners carried yellow roses and wore t-shirts in his honour as his mother Annmarie kissed his coffin in a final goodbye.
