Waiting lists are way off target
More than 50,000 people in Northern Ireland are still waiting more than nine weeks for their first outpatient appointment.
The figures were revealed in the Department of Health’s December waiting list statistics which covered the last three months of 2010.
Over 35,000 |patients have been waiting more than 13 weeks.
The 2010/2011 ministerial target states that, by the end of this month, no patient should wait longer than nine weeks for their first outpatient appointment.
