Justin Bieber tops chart and sets record

By Lorna Cooper

Justin Bieber has ousted Adele from the top of the UK Singles Chart with Sorry, and broken a new Official Chart record in the process.

Every track from his current album Purpose charted inside the Top 100, and eight cracked the Top 40.

It is the first time a living act has achieved this many entries simultaneously in the Official Singles Chart Top 40. The closest was Elvis Presley 58 years ago in 1957. He managed seven entries.

The Canadian heart-throb dominates this week's run down with three singles in the Top 5: Sorry, Love Yourself at number 3 and What Do You Mean? at number 5. The last male artist to achieve this was John Lennon in January 1981.
