A MAN stopped at Belfast International Airport with £20,000 of suspected herbal cannabis bought the drugs in an Amsterdam coffee shop to save himself money, the High Court has heard.

Kenneth Farrell (21) claimed he was offered the 2kg batch for €400 after being separated from friends during a weekend trip to the Dutch city.

Farrell, of Bluebell Road, Dublin, faces a charge of importing class B drugs following his detention by UK Borders Agency officers on Sunday.
