Man hospitalised after being attacked with bottle in north Belfast

Police in north Belfast have appealed for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in the Parkend Street area.

The incident happened at around 8.15pm Saturday night, with the 36-year-old male victim assaulted with a bottle and receiving injuries to his head and a number of deep cuts to his arms and back.

He is being treated in hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Speaking about the attack, Detective Sergeant Stephen Gardiner said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw the suspect in the area at the time of the incident. He is described as being in his mid-30s, bald and wearing a blue top and grey track bottoms with blue or black stripes down the sides. He left the address around 8.20pm and was seen heading towards the Alexandra Park area."

A 35-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene and is currently being held in custody, assisting police with their inquiries.
